It had been several months since I saw her last. We bumped into each other while shopping, I asked her about the dream she told me God has placed on her heart at the beginning of the year. She crinkled her nose and sighed “I’m just so busy, maybe when things get back to normal and when I have more time I can really focus on it and move it forward.”
Have you ever said that statement?
“When I have…..”
I know I have.
Here is a story of a woman who also felt too busy and a little scared at one point to follow the calling God had placed in her life.
This woman was living what some might call a fairy tale life. She resided in a lavish home with the best view ever. She had her own personal spa where she was pampered and made to feel luxurious. She ate mouth-watering chocolate covered strawberries and lots of other scrumptious goodies on a daily basis. I don’t know about you, but I could definitely dig that kind of lifestyle!
Life was good, but then God placed it on her heart to help some people in need. At first she told herself it was too risky, because it would mean doing something that no one had ever done before. (Ever stayed where you are at, because the next place was too scary?)
Then she started to tell others she was just too busy. She had responsibilities, obligations and commitments that she had due to her roles in life. Her comments might have sounded something like “when I get to the promotion I have been hoping for, maybe then I can follow this desire.”
One day she was talking to a relative and he reminded her that “you can choose to do nothing right now and God will find another way to help these people, but who knows you might have been made and placed right where you are at for such a time as this!” After hearing those words she left her comfort zone, took a leap of faith and now her legacy lives on some 2,000+ years after her death. That woman was Queen Esther and because she let go of all her to-dos and excuses, she saved her people.
You see there will always be more to do. There will always be another “when I have….” like “when I have more time”, “when I have more money,” “when I have the kids all in school,” “when I have a spouse who can support me.” At some point though you have to ask yourself do I really want to achieve the God-sized dream in my heart- no matter what?
Here is the truth, if your dream is really from God and his timing for your dream is NOW, then somewhere in your schedule there’s space to make it happen.
Is it easy to find the time? No, because that means to have to be willing to let go. Not only let go of tasks, roles and responsibilities, but also:
Let go of the guilt for doing what you truly want to do.
Let go of the fear of the unknown.
Let go of the need to have it all figured out before you leap.
Let go of being the “go-to” person for everyone else all the time and never making time for yourself.
Let go of thinking you are not where you should be.
You are right where you should be. You were made for such a time as this!
You have time. I have time.
It’s time too leap and give birth to the God-size dream you have in your heart. Don’t let anyone or anything block your way or cause you to delay including your schedule!
You are not alone. Let’s leap together. That’s exactly what we do in my upcoming November retreat called “Leap Like a Lioness and Grow Rich: Unleashing Your God-sized Dreams.”
